Sheriff provides update on plumbing issues at jail – By Emily Reed

Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon provided an update to members of the commission on Monday regarding plumbing issues at the jail.

During the May 11 commission meeting, Shearon told commissioners about the issues which included several pods at the jail that were leaking from the commodes.

Shearon told commissioners on Monday that most of the ‘leaks’ had been fixed with the help of County Maintenance Supervisor Pete Davenport.

“We went from about 70 problems down to about two,” Shearon said. “We seem to have a handle on the leaks, and all of the issues that we did have should be taken care of this week.”

Shearon originally told commissioners that problems with water leaking at the jail made the concrete floor slick, and Shearon was concerned with the leaks being a liability to the county if someone slipped and fell.
